Inauguration Pioneering Spirit

Allseas is a leading offshore contracting company specializing in laying pipelines on the seabed.

In early 2015, “Pioneering Spirit”, Allseas’ new vessel for rig installation, rig removal and pipelaying, was launched.

The inauguration of “Pioneering Spirit” took place on Friday 27 February, Saturday 28 February and Sunday 1 March. A high-quality three-day event was realised in the Alexiahaven in Rotterdam's Second Maasvlakte, which was attended by some 4,000 customers, employees and suppliers of Allseas.

Commissioned by Allseas and in collaboration with Hendrix Regie and Showproducties, the Production World team started pre-production well before these dates. To give an idea of ​​the scope of this project:

• 76 days build and de-rig
• 10,000 m2 of temporary structures
• 600 person production crew, who together worked 55,000 hours
• 600 containers met materialen
• 375 tons of steel, 1800m2 of concrete and 25 kilometers of cabling
• 5.2 million liters of seawater, as ballast for the pontoons

A major project in a particularly difficult location; 4 North Sea pontoons measuring 185 x 54 meters, constructed at sea during the most stormy months of the year, made the Inauguration of the Pioneering Spirit a wonderful challenge.
